How do I diagnose my car stereo problem (works sporadically)?
I have a 2004 Toyota Corolla S with a factory stereo. My car stereo works sporadically. Sometimes when I turn the car on the radio will start, sometimes it doesn’t. That led me to think there might just be a loose wire somewhere. There is power to the radio, i.e. I can see the clock and change the station, but there is no sound. When the radio does randomly turn on, it sounds fine. I’ve removed the faceplate, so what’s next? How do I check if there is a loose connection somewhere, or does anyone have any other ideas for what it might be? Could it be the antenna?
It is obviously not an O.E.M. radio (they did not come with clock…).
If you are seeing display you have some power. You should have 2 sources of power. 1. Switched with key 2. On all the time (keeps clock & radio set).
If you can verify both power sources are good, you have an internal component failure and need to remove for repair. Being intermitant can be a problem, maybe time for a new stereo, costs is cheap for complete units.
