Seagate External Hard Drive Firmware Update
is my labtop too old or is my Hard Drive defective?
my seagate 500gb external hard drive malfunctioned. labtop stopped recognizing it, files disappear. i was told it was because my labtop is too old (ancient dell) & when i installed the technology it eventually became too much to operate. but it meets the requirements of 2 usb ports & has windows xp. it works on my mom’s toshiba & i read an article saying that i might need firmware because seagate sold defective hard drives that swirl up & aren’t recognized by the pc. ill get a pop-up saying “windows was unable to save the data in file __ due to either a bad enternet connection or a computer hardware malfunction.” ive re-installed & un-installed the software, modified the drive, nothing seems to work. ppl say it could be the power source, that its not updated, the usb cord could be defective, etc… it worked fine for the 1st couple months & idk what the problem is.
it seems that there is some problem with your hard drive plz check it if you hear some noises during the system boot , blue screen during your work on system !! change your hard drive ..but first re-install your operating system .if the problem is the same only change your hard drive hope it work
