Seagate External Hard Drive Guide
How to pick which external Hard Drive to get?
There’s so many out there, is there some sort of guide to help with? Even within a brand say Western Digital or Seagate, there’s so many different ones, and different prices for same storage spaces. Why?
To elaborate, I need a desktop external hard drive, I won’t be taking this with me to travel. I’d need either 500gb to 1tb of storage
There’s a lot of things to consider when getting an external hard drive:
1. Brand. I’ve had both Western Digital and Seagate. I like them both and both are reputable brands.
2. Portability: Do you want something you can pick up and take with you? If so I’d recommend the WD Passport Series. If not, both of the above brands make plenty of desktop external hard drives.
3. Size: Do you have a lot of music and movies or will the drive be used mainly for backups? For most users, I’d stick with a 320 GB or 500 GB. If your most of the drive will be movies and music, considering looking at 1 TB. It all depends on the amount of data you have and your budget.
