Adaptor Adapter
How can I use an AC adaptor to power 4 devices usually powered by 2 AA batteries?
Hello,
I already know that I can replace the power source of a battery powered device by an AC adapter.
But I don’t really know about voltage and current. I would want to use one single AC adaptor to power 4 devices that use two AA batteries each (so it’s 4 devices that use 3v each).
The voltage needed is obviously 3v but is that hack possible and what current must supply my AC adaptor?

It is possible to do what you want to. First thing is the AC to DC adapter must be 3 volts. As for the current rating, you have to add up the current draw for the 4 devices. So if as an example, all four devices draw 200 milliamps then you would need an adapter that has a capacity of at least 800 milliamps. It is ok to get an adapter that has a higher current rating so in the previous example, a 1A adapter would be ok while a 500ma adapter would not.
