external Hard Drive for a laptop?

I need more hard drive for my laptop, because he did that 80gig and I `ve been Argos to buy a buffalo 500 gig external hard drive, but they said they are not sure it will work with a laptop, they told me said that `s only for PC or Mac. Does anyone know if I need a different kind of one? BOB is wrong mate. If you have Windows XP or Vista or 2000 or Mac and a USB port it automatically recognize it and work very well. The guy at Argos is just covering itself. More Argos has a policy very good back, just say its flaws, and they will reimburse you. But you will not need to work for it =)
