Camera Dvd

Burning movie clips from my video camera onto dvd?
I’m trying to burn a movie file onto either a dvd/cd (from my video camera); but windows media & nero are not letting me.
They are .avi files and nero express says they are ‘unsupported file format’. Is there something that I’m doing wrong?
How can I get these little clips on dvd?
I want to be able to watch it in a dvd player.
u can take a backup of these .avi files by writing the dvd as a data dvd..
select “data dvd” on nero when it asks for the kind of dvd u want to write.
in that way ur dvd will not have any autorun facility.. u can open these files only on a pc..
otherwise u can try converting these videos to a supprting format such as mpeg.. download some avi to mpg converter from www.download.com.. then u can write the video dvd..
