Dog Shock
I need to find a dog shock collar that is not a cheapy.?
My husband is going to get my dogs a shock collar which I am not happy about, however he said I could choose it. So I want to find one that is good in the way that it won’t accidentally go off on them and one that has different levels so I can use the lowest level. I have heard tri-tronics might be a good one, but am not sure, can anybody with knowledge on shock collars and brands help me out? Thanks!
A shock collar can be a good training tool if used properly. The problem many people have against them is that they punish bad behavior, but they don’t reward good behavior. That doesn’t make them bad however. Using them irresponsibly makes them bad. You can harm your dog mentally and physically if you don’t use this tool properly.
Many shock collars come with a video, explaining how to use it properly. The best E-collars are usually available for hunters and are mostly used in hunt training. Tri-tronics is the most popular maker of E-collars. Purchase a system tailored for the kind of training you need (obedience, hunting, etc). Please learn how to use it properly. Watch the videos, read the manuals and be consistent in it’s use. Most all sporting good stores and catalogs that sell hunting supplies sell E-collars.

Folks here calling you, your husband, sadist and cruel are just plain ignorant. They are unaware of alternte training methods. I don’t condone using E-collars, but you asked a legitimate question that deserved a good answer.
