Portable Roll-Up J-Pole Question?

I recently bought a portable roll-up J-Pole and I am not in to Ham Radio hardware that much, so i was wondering.. is all I need to do is keep it rolled up and hang it to a wall? Or do I need some metal piece that plugs in to it? http://www.rogerwendell.com/images/antennas/torreys_peak_j_pole_antenna.jpg
^^^ That’s what I’m talking about. Do i need something like that, or is all I will need the wire?

you can hang it on the wall with a thumb tack.

I put them in PVC pipe and make a rigid vertcle antenna.

there needs to be a piece of coax cable that goes from the bottom of the J-Pole to your transceiver.

WOW! I just looked at the image… I know where I want to move to!!!!!!!!!!!

What you see is the classic “plumbers delight” antenna. It is a J-Pole, just a little larger scale then 300 ohm twin lead. FYI, twin lead comes in two flavors, 300 and 450 ohm. You are NOT concerned about the typical impedence of the twin lead, you want the structure of the twinlead. You could build one using bare wire and a substrate if you want.
I have built copper pipe antennas, I have one on the side of my tower now and I use it for APRS. I have built J-Poles into PVC pipe for portable digi-peaters. The picture is COPPER PIPE that has been painted white.
