Dust spots on the CCD (Nikon D80)?
I’ve had this camera for a little more than month (i’m a noob 2 the dslr world) and i realized that i have two small dark specks on the top left corner of my pictures (when looked at in a 1:1 ratio on a computer monitor) and this is on the 18-55mm lens, at any focus/zoom level. with the 55-200mm i have not noticed these specks. I’ve cleaned the lens (the front, which is not the end that goes into the camera) and also the mirror thats in the camera body. i think there are 2 possibilities: 1. could it be that the back of the lens (the part that goes into the camera) has dust on it, or 2. that the ccd has dust on it?
I don’t know how to clean the low pass filter, and i do not have a dust blower. My question is to those that work with dslrs for a while: what has to be cleaned, and if i can’t clean it, how much would it cost, on average, to get it professionally cleaned?
Simply get a Giotto Rocket blower (around $10-$20). remove the lens with the camera facing downwards, put it into mirror lockup, press the shutter button, and blow. (don’t stick the tip of the blower into the camera if possible, since you could possibly scratch or break something.
