Microcassette Voice

Microcassette Voice
Can a Sony MiniDisc recorder record from a microphone with “voice operated recording” ?

I have a Sony MZ-R700 which I want to use the same as my old Sony M-627V Microcassette-Corder. I can set this old one to voice operated mode so it starts when a sound reaches a certain volume level. I want to do the same with the MD recorder.

I know that this model R700 is not designed for voice-operated recording, but I was hoping I could hack it or add something that would allow me to do this. (I would prefer not to spend a lot of money on a similar product.)
One more question: The information on this model says it can connect to the internet via Windows 98, 2000, and ME. But I have Windows XP Home. Can I use this model with XP? Do I need a different driver and if so how to get it?

It doesn’t have that capability. It’s not really a dedicated voice recorder. You’d be better off with this unit I think: Sony MZ-B10. I believe this unit will do what you’re wanting. Check the manual for more info. Bob’s your uncle
