My Seagate External Hard Drive Is Beeping
Seagate FreeAgent Go external Hard Drive is making a beeping noise and is not detected.?
I was using my external hard drive last night and when I went to plug it in this morning, it is not being detected by the Seagate manager and it is making a faint beeping noise. Once it is left plugged in long enough, the beeping stops but it doesn’t light up and it’s still not detected. Can anyone help me please? What is happening exactly and how can I fix it?
I think its a hardware failure so if the drive is clicking it means that the logic board inside that hard drive’s USB enclosure is not working properly or some is not soldered properly. If the drive is still under warranty, I would call Seagate. Here is the link for the warranty check http://support.seagate.com/customer/warranty_validation.jsp
If it is not under warranty, I would open the hard drive and buy a new hard drive enclosure for it. Its only for $15 from eBay.
Hope this Helps
