How can I connect my Power Supply to some LED’s?

I am very new at this. I have 5mm IR 850nm LED lights and I want to connect them to a power supply. I know i need resistors etc. Can someone assist me?

Use a Multimeter to make sure the power supply is the correct voltage and current for the LED. Obviously if the LED requires 12Volts DC and your power supply is 240V AC, not going to turn out well.
