Seagate External Hard Drive Cannot Start
Is it normal for exteral hard drives to make clicking noises?
I have an external 1tb Seagate Hard Drive and while I’m playing movies or streaming over to my xbox the hard drive starts making some “clicking” noises. Sometimes shorter clicks and sometimes it clicks for about a minute in a repetitive manner. Sounds a bit like a clock. The media I am playing plays fine during the times when it clicks. Sometimes the media skips/pauses for a second but I cannot say that happens when the hard drive is clicking or not.
Is it normal for exteral drives to make this sound or should I send it back for a new one? I just wanted to ask before I tell Seagate about it because if I tell them that my data is still playing fine, they might come back and tell me its a normal sound.
Thank you!
It does it while the drive is idiling/not being actively used. I’ll send it back. Thanks
You should not hear clicking.. ~
