Seagate External Hard Drive Costco

My Brand New Seagate FreeAgent Desk Hard Drive making clicking noises?

Hello,

I just bought my External Seagate FreeAgent Desk Hard Drive from Costco about 2 days ago. This is the second time connecting to a computer but this time I am connecting to a different computer via USB.

Also I have 2 external hard drives connected to the computer all at once. Is it possible that it is the computer causing the external hard drive this issue? I know whenever a hard drive starts to make some kind of noise, it means it’s dieing but I just bought this. Advice please?

Thanks in advance
Thanks Senlis, I completely forgot about Seagate tools. I’ll give it a go and will vote if it works. Thanks again
Well I just called Seagate and I told them about my problem and they told me to just take it back to Costco since it generally isn’t a good sign. He said that Seagate tools won’t recognize these types of problems since the hard drive is still functioning. Thanks for the help anyway but I’m just going to go get a replacement.

download and install seatools: http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/support/downloads/seatools

Use it to run a scan on your hard drive (be sure not to accidentally scan you c: instead). If it fails, you can use that to get them to replace your hard drive. If it passes, there isn’t any problem.
