Seagate External Hard Drive Will Not Power On
External Hard Drive enclosure problem?
I have recently purchased an Acomdata 3.5 external enclosure to use my Seagate External drive .Which I was already using with other enclosure which stoped working but when I connect my HardDisk directly to my Desktop it was working fine ,So I bought Acomdata encloser because my disk has some imporatant data which I need to use. once placed it in external enclosure, as jumper set on Masters, windows detected it as new hardware connected at USB ,But when I clicked on My Computer icon it is not showing my external hard disk.It has seperate power supply so low power is not a problem. anyone know what could be wrong? It already has some data So I am not willing to format it.
anyone have any ideas?
Go to Control Panel > Admin Tools > Computer Management >Storage >Disk Management > locate external usb drive. There may be a conflict between the drive letter assigned to the seagate when you first used it and now using it without an enclosure and now a new enclosure.
You may have to move the letter assigned to the seagate to a lower letter e.g. H,or U.
