Where can I download a Windows 98 driver for a Seagate 500gb FreeAgent external Hard Drive?
According to their website, a FreeAgent drive should not need additional drivers for any OS, so they don’t offer one for download. However, when I tried plugging it into my computer running Windows 98, it was unable to locate the driver.
Alright. Xp introduced the true concept of plug n’ play by having standard generic drivers built in, so most external hard drives work on the fly. But windows 98 doesn’t have built in drivers, there for one needs to be supplied. Guess what! windows 98 is old, and no one makes drivers for them anymore. So I am sorry, if you are trying to recover files, there are other ways.
