Western Digital External Hard Drive Case
Is My External Hard Drive Dying?
It’s a western digital (Mybook) 1Tb usb external hard drive and Ive only had it for around 9months. For the 1st time it started making 5second Interval clicking noises that lasted 4-5minutes which has now stopped
I scanned for errors and it came back clean its never been dropped/bashed or mistreated in any way.. Its the only back up drive I use 80% full as my internal drives are small 22GB – C 44GB – D
Is this a bad sign & what can I do I think its covered by the warranty but Its not broke yet and I have no way of backing up 700GB just in case it dyes

It could be a bad sign but you have to remember that hard drives have moving parts and can make noise. since most hard drives that make noise are ones that are high performance its best if you get that drive replaced since its low performance and just for storage.
