Western Digital External Hard Drive Power Cable

How can I use my external Hard Drive 220 countries?
My old external hard drive has a power cable that was in two pieces, with a "brick" in the middle. For use in other countries, I just use another cable to go between the brick and the foreign wall socket. The brick power conversion for me. (What does "brick" thing actually called, anyway?) The external hard drive that I now have another type of cord, I can do that. It is a room with no brick in the East. Instead, the plug that goes into the wall is much larger, which I guess is to take the place of brick. So how can I get it to work in a foreign country? If I use a type converter with the power cable I already have, or should I get a power cable entirely new, or what? (In case it matters is a Western Digital My Book 500GB, WD5000C032 model) Thanks!
specification the state I see the power can be 110v or 230v is a link to the specs on insight.com. http://www2.insight.com/search/ppp.web?materialId=WDG1U5000N
